Christ our Passover!

We all know that the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is an historical, physical and symbolic fact and truth. But when we make it just an event and/or a day or week to celebrate it, we lose the most powerful truth of all! The feast of Passover to us now is primarily a spiritual fulfillment of the lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Christ is the fulfilling of the Passover!!

You can figure out if there were two Sabbath days that week, if he was crucified on Wednesday or Friday, and keep the Sabbath with a Sedar meal to celebrate the feast. You can call it Easter or Passover, you can argue it was a literal three days and three nights or two days and He rose on the third day! (Friday-Sunday)You can argue days and Sabbath’s and moons but these are all types and shadows of Christ! (Col. 2:16,17)

When Jesus was coming towards John the Baptist in John 1:29, he announced Him, saying, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” He certainly wasn’t talking about a little wooly animal! ๐Ÿ‘Jesus is the fulfillment of the Lamb of God. ๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”‘

When Jesus was talking about himself as the bread of life and being the living bread which came down heaven, He wasn’t referring to natural bread. He said in John 6:51-53- “If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever: and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

He went on to say to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.” In verse 60, the disciples when they heard this, said, โ€œThis is a hard saying, who can understand it?” Jesus told them, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:60-63)

Paul declared in I. Cor. 15:1-4 that the death, burial and resurrection of Christ is the whole basis for the gospel, and the whole point of the gospel is that He was raised from the dead, and if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen, and our faith is in vain, or empty!

So, do we keep the feast and celebrate His resurrection? Yes!! Earlier in I. Cor. 5:7,8 Paul declared this: Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you are truly unleavened. FOR INDEED CHRIST, OUR PASSOVER, WAS SACRIFICED FOR US. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, not with the leaven of malice and wickedness, BUT WITH THE UNLEAVENED BREAD OF SINCERITY AND TRUTH.
